Common Questions
Does the therapist come to our home ?
Yes, I can meet you in your home or out in the community (playground, restaurant. . .) depending on your preferences and your child’s therapy goals.
Is our child's session covered by insurance?
I am not currently in-network with any insurance carriers. I will provide you with a bill of service that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have an out of network therapy benefit
What to expect from our first session ?
The first sessions is to get to know you and your child (likes/dislikes, strengths, areas to work on, goals). A key element to successful therapy is developing a strong relationship between me and your child. There will be observations and likely assessments to get to know you all better. All sessions should be fun with your child actively engaged in the therapy.
How Many Sessions will my child need ?
There is no set number of sessions. At the evaluation we will develop a plan of care and discuss how long we think it will take to meets your goals. Goals are every changing and therefore so is the plan of care
How will i know about my child's progress
Families are also encouraged to be actively engaged in the therapy process. That may look different for different families. Some families like to join throughout each session and that is welcomed, while some other families prefer updates at the end of each session or monthly. I work with you to meet your communication needs
Will you coordinate with our other therapists?
I strongly believe a team approach with strong communication is essential. Team members include family members and any other care professions a family deems important. That could be another occupational therapist, a school teacher, a pediatrician, a psychologist, speech therapist, physical therapist, etc
